City of Toronto’s Coordinated Street Furniture Program – Biweekly Meeting Feb 17, 2026
As presented in the previous Biweekly BIA Meeting, the City Street Furniture survey is open for the next 6 weeks until March 29, 2026. Attached presentation deck.
In 2007 the City of Toronto entered into a 20-year agreement with Astral Media for the supply, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of approximately 25,000 street furniture elements, including transit shelters, litter bins, benches, postering structures, information pillars and automated public toilets. The agreement provides Astral with advertising exclusivity on select Street Furniture elements. In return, the City benefits from free installation and maintenance of furniture, revenue sharing from advertising, and other community benefits. Astral agreement ends in August 2027, giving the City a chance to explore opportunities to reimagine street furniture to better support accessibility, equity, safety, cleanliness, and sustainability.
Help shape the future of Toronto’s street furniture by completing the survey. This survey is open to the public, BIAs, and businesses – please share with your networks.
You may complete the survey on behalf of your BIA and if interested, separately as an individual of the public.
