BIA Masterclass 4: Why Community Safety Underpins Economic Development and What That Means for BIAs in Toronto
This Masterclass will look at the relationship between community safety and economic development, starting with some key urban economic concepts to guide BIAs. A key part of the class will be how to identify the signs of urban blight, how to measure their impact – and what the direct and indirect economic costs are for BIAs. Note that this Masterclass is Part 1 on the topic, and will be followed by a Masterclass in August, presented by Cassandra Alves from SafeTO BIA, who will talk about specific case studies happening in Toronto BIAs right now.
