TABIA HITS THE STREETS TO SUPPORT LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD BUSINESSES
John J. Kiru, Executive Director of TABIA-Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas, today announced a major initiative to support local neighborhood businesses.

TORONTO: September 19, 2007 Ontario Government scheduled property re-assessments for every fourth year. Worrying about a backlash when the next assessment results are issued, it scheduled the assessment to occur shortly after the October election. The valuation date is January 1, 2008.

TORONTO March 22, 2007 – Lionel Miskin, TABIA Vice-President and Tax Committee Chair expressed disappointment that the Ontario Budget, once again, fails to address the dilemma of Toronto’s small retailers. “While the government has recognized that the huge disparities in education tax rates across the province need to be addressed, the Budget proposal will have no significant effect on Toronto’s small retailers for years to come,” he states.
